The system I have employed is a visual description of a materials properties, that relates to the topic of each novel. The properties are the wave lengths that have been absorbed within the material, what gives us our perception of its colour. The purpose of this is to illustrate how we are controlled by our senses and how what we see is only a narrow description of what actually exists. Its also describes how we are bound by a material reality which is the foundation of social hierarchy and how time dominates our lives. In effect it is saying to change the material to see it in its full light is to released from its bonds, to be enlightened is to break free of the sentence of time. The colour of each title is taken from a material that holds importance within the narrative of the book and its spectral properties are illustrated in the diamond form on the cover of each book.
